What is Doculigent?
Doculigent is an open-source, privacy-first screen recorder for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It records your screen with a camera overlay, transcribes and summarizes recordings on-device, and lets you share a recording with its transcript and summary attached by email to another person or your team.
Is Doculigent free?
Yes — the Free plan includes screen + camera recording and local transcription and summaries. See the pricing page for paid tiers.

Can Doculigent record my screen and camera together?
Yes — screen and camera are recorded in one pass, at full resolution.
Does Doculigent upload my recordings automatically?
No. Recordings, transcription, and AI summaries all happen on your device by default. Nothing uploads unless you explicitly share a recording by email.
Does Doculigent transcribe recordings locally?
Yes — transcripts are diarized (speaker-separated) and generated on-device, so audio doesn't need to leave your computer.
Can I ask questions about a recording?
Yes — chat with a recording to ask questions about what happened, and jump straight to the relevant moment.
How do I share a recording?
Share it by email with another person or your team, transcript and summary attached. On the Free plan, a recipient's access expires after 24 hours; paid plans keep that access permanent.
How is Doculigent different from cloud-based recorders like Loom?
Most screen recorders upload your video to the cloud as part of how they work. Doculigent keeps recording, transcription, and summarization local by default — a video only leaves your machine when you choose to share it.
